San Miguel Foods, Inc. (SMFI) is a subsidiary of San Miguel Food and Beverage, Inc. (SMFB) that is engaged in the agro-industrial sector specifically in commercial feeds, poultry, pork and beef, with leading market shares in each of these industry segments.

SMFI employs a vertically-integrated farm-to-plate business model with geographically dispersed facilities including feed mills, farms, hatcheries, processing plants, warehouses, distribution facilities and branded retail outlets selling chicken, pork and beef. This model allows the company to derive synergies all along the value chain through economies of scale in sourcing raw materials, sharing of an extensive knowledge base in feed formulation, animal health and husbandry, manufacturing and best practices related to biosecurity, food safety and sustainability.

B-Meg is the company’s main brand for feeds with products for different animal types being further identified by sub-brands such as Premium and Expert for hogs and Integra for free range fowl. A line of pet care products is also being marketed under the brand Nutri Chunks, while veterinary products are sold under San Miguel Animal Health Care (SMAHC).

In the poultry category, Magnolia Chicken continues to be the market leader, while Monterey Pork and Beef remain top-of-mind in their respective categories.

The Prepared and Packaged Food business of San Miguel Foods is comprised of four legal entities – The Purefoods-Hormel Company Inc. (PHC), Magnolia Inc., San Miguel Super Coffeemix, Inc. (SMSCCI) and San Miguel Foods, Inc., under which the shared Sales team called San Miguel Integrated Sales (SMIS) is housed.

The Purefoods-Hormel Company Inc., a joint venture with Hormel Foods International, produces and markets processed meats in both refrigerated and canned formats. PHC dominates the hotdog and nuggets segments of the market with Purefoods Tender Juicy and Purefoods Nuggets as its flagship brands. In the canned segment, the major brands are Purefoods Corned Beef and Purefoods Luncheon Meat. The company also pioneered a plant-based line of processed products, in particular sausages, nuggets, burgers, balls and minced meat, under the Veega brand. Other popular products include Purefoods Fiesta Ham, Purefoods Classic Honeycured Bacon, Purefoods Seafood Nuggets, Star Hotdogs, Star Corned Beef and other Star canned goods.

A recent addition to Purefoods product line are its ready-to-eat meals such as Kare-Kare, Lechon Paksiw, Beef Caldereta and many other viands. This is a new arena of growth for the company.

PHC is also the exclusive distributor in the Philippines of two of Hormel’s major brands, SPAM and Skippy Peanut Butter.

Magnolia Inc. manufactures and markets butter, margarine, cheese, milk, ice cream, flour mixes, spreads, salad dressings and biscuits. Magnolia Gold Butter and Butterlicious together have a leading market share in the butter segment, while Dari Crème and Star Margarine have dominant shares in the refrigerated and non-refrigerated margarine segments, respectively. Magnolia Ice Cream and Magnolia Milks, after having been sold to Nestle in 1998, were relaunched by the company in 2004. Today, Magnolia Ice Cream is positioned as a premium brand with a creamier formulation owing to the inclusion of carabao’s milk in its all-time favorites and some innovative new flavors. Other popular products of Magnolia include Buttercup and Baker’s Best for margarine, Magnolia Cheddar, Cheezee, and Daily Quezo for cheese blocks and cheese spreads, Magnolia Quezo de Bola and Edam for cheese balls and Magnolia All-Purpose Flour and Magnolia Pancake Mix. The company also carries canned tuna in its portfolio under the brand name, San Miguel Del Mar.

San Miguel Super Coffeemix Company, Inc. is a joint venture with Jacob Douwe Egberts (JDE), one of the world’s largest coffee companies.
